I will skip the cliches of “It’s the Most Wonderful Time of the Year”, and “The Time has finally arrived” all those. Ladies and gentlemen: it’s time for some football. Tonight, the NFL kicks off with a bang as NFC Juggernauts Seattle and Green Bay face off. Every week, we will be bringing you guys “Five Lines We Love”, a segment where we will break down our five favorite NFL lines of the week. The first week of the season is always a tough one to predict, but there are a few spreads that stood out above the rest for us. Please enjoy our picks, and be sure to tune in every week for more betting options throughout the season! The picks are listed in order of how much of a lock we think they are, with the top pick being the biggest lock of the week. Without further ado, check out our five favorite lines of NFL Week 1!

1. Chicago (-6.5) vs. Buffalo

This looks to be the biggest lock of the first week for me. The Bears offense is built to put points on the board. They have the best wider receiver duo in the league in Brandon Marshall and Alshon Jeffrey, and Matt Forte is a beast in this offense. While the defense certainly has it’s holes, I simply expect the Bears to outscore this Bills team by a touchdown at home. Look for a 10-14 point win by Chicago, easily covering the spread, and getting them off to a great start on the season.

2. Kansas City (-5) vs. Tennessee

The Chiefs were one of the biggest surprises last season, jumping out to an incredible 9-0 start. They were able to do it by winning games like this against their lesser opponents. I don’t expect the Chiefs to blow out the Titans here, but I do think they will be able to hold a 7-10 point lead throughout the game, and let their defense take them home.

3. Saints (-2.5) At Atlanta

This should be a really good game. Two high powered offenses will be doing battle here in a game that will light up the scoreboard. Matt Ryan and company will be eager to put last year’s debacle behind them, and I expect them to jump out to an early lead. But the Saints are my pick to win the Super Bowl for a reason, and I think their veterans will weather the tide, and eventually squeeze out a 3-7 point victory in a battle of bitter division rivals.

4 . Philadelphia (-10) vs. Jacksonville

This is likely your pick in any survival league pools, and for good reason too. The Eagles got their offensive ducks in a row at the end of last season, winning seven of their final eight games. They will be putting points on the board, and while I think Blake Brotles, Marqise Lee, and Cecil Shorts have a bright future, I don’t expect them to be able to hang in this game. Look for the Eagles to win fairly comfortably here.

5. Minnesota (+5) At St. Louis

Just when things were looking up for the Rams, Sam Bradford goes down with yet another injury. I was a big fan of the Rams coming into the year, and thought that with their weapons on offense, and their solid defense, that they would be a good darkhorse pick. But now, it looks like it will be another tough year in St Louis. I’m not much of a believer in Minnesota this year, and I still think St Louis managed to pull out this game at home. But I will gladly take the five points here for the Vikings.

That does it for this week’s picks! We will be keeping track of our record all season long, so let’s hope we can get off to a good start. Thanks for tuning into to our NFL Week 1 picks, and enjoy tonight’s game!
