It has been a very tough fortnight for Liverpool FC. They have gone from having one hand on the Premier League title to looking like certain runners-up as they continue to lose ground to Manchester City.

All in all, it has been a successful season for Liverpool as they have secured Champions League football for the first time since 2010, but it does not quite get rid of the sour taste left in fans mouths after coming so close to winning their first title in 24 years. What is for certain, is that Liverpool need to strengthen next season, so who may they bring in?

Antoine Griezmann

The Real Sociedad man has recently been linked to the club and Brendan Rodgers could very happily make a move for the French winger. Liverpool need width, once Victor Moses returns to Chelsea all they have is Raheem Sterling, and that is not going to help them win the Champions League or sustain a title challenge. The 23-year-old has found the net on 16 occasions this season and this goal- scoring prowess is vital if Liverpool are ever going to be considered title candidates. Rodgers is a fan, Griezmann is keen, so it all depends on the transfer fee, he has a buy-out clause of £22million but whether that is met remains unknown.

Steven Caulker

The Cardiff captain is widely expected to leave Wales this summer, mainly because he is far too good to be playing in the Championship, Betfair have his side as favourites to finish rock-bottom of the Premier League. Liverpool’s defense has been shambolic this season, the 49 goals they have conceded has ultimately cost them the title. Rodgers has worked with Caulker before and would love to work with him again, while Caulker would relish the opportunity to chance his arm in the Champions League. If Liverpool can appease the demands of the maverick Vincent Tan, who may ask for as much as £15million, then Caulker will definitely be moving to Anfield.

Adam Lallana

Southampton captain Adam Lallana has been one of the stand-out players in the Premier League this season and he should feature prominently for England at this summer’s World Cup . Lallana is a class touch and hard not to admire, he has the ability to unlock defenses as he has done on six occasions this season, while he also weighs in with a fair amount of goals. It’s been reported that he would want to move to Liverpool and if the Reds are willing to meet Southampton’s £25million valuation then he could be gracing the Anfield turf in a red shirt come August.

Of course the names mentioned are speculative but they are not unforeseeable, in fact it would be surprising if just one of the names mentioned joined the Reds. What is for sure is that Liverpool need to strengthen if they are going to continue this growth as you can expect Manchester United to come back fighting next season.

It is going to be a very busy transfer window for Liverpool.
