There’s not much of note on the slate of games in the Big Ten this week, except for the traditional Michigan-Michigan State in-state rivalry game. Check out our thoughts on that and the rest of the Big Ten below!

Saturday, November 2nd

Illinois (away) vs. Penn State (home): Nittany Lions head coach Bill O’Brien had a great week of practice with his team, and got Penn State refocused after taking a beating last week to Ohio State 63-14. Christian Hackenberg has been impressive at QB for Penn State thus far in the season. The Nittany Lions are discipline on both sides of the football and RB Bill Belton gives Bill O’Brien’s offense a playmaker coming out the backfield. Illinois goes on the road with the potential to pull off this win, but QB Nathan Scheelhaase has to bring his “A” game against this physical Nittany Lions football team. #JYPREDICTION: Penn State

Purdue (home) vs. #4 Ohio State (away): Purdue is 1-6 on the season but the experience these underclassmen are receiving will build confidence and make them a better football team in a couple years. Experience is truly the best teacher. In the off-season, games against teams like Ohio State will push these young Boilermakers to work hard and improve. Ohio State undefeated streak will continue this weekend. Braxton Miller and Carlos Hyde will set the tone for Ohio State to be victorious. #JYPREDICTION: Ohio St.

Ohio State vs. Purdue Big Ten

Indiana (home) vs. Minnesota (away): Minnesota has been on a roll, defeating a good Northwestern team and upseting Nebraska last week in Minneapolis. The Golden Gophers go on the road Saturday and face a high powered offense in Indiana. The Hoosiers defense is improving, but their offense led by QB Tre Roberson and Nate Sudfeld can put points on the board and fast. Minnesota has one of the best secondaries in the country, but they will be tested every play against the speedy Hoosiers. I believe Indiana will catch Minnesota off guard with how fast they can score. Indiana wins this game at home in Bloomington, Indiana over Minnesota. #JYPREDICTION: Indiana

Northwestern (away) vs. Nebraska (home): This is a must win game for Northwestern to stay in bowl contentions, and regain some momentum to finish out the rest of this season. Injuries are hurting Northwestern, and this week it doesn’t get easier as they face a tough Nebraska team at home. The Corn Huskers lost last week to a feisty Minnesota team, and will look to run the ball against Northwestern with RB Ameer Abdullah, who has played great all season. Nebraska QB Taylor Martinez didn’t play well last week, but a player of his talent should perform a lot better this weekend. #JYPREDICTION: Nebraska

#21 Michigan (away) vs. #22 Michigan State (home): Michigan State will be the best defense that Michigan QB Devin Gardner has seen all season. Gardner plays great at home, but makes mistakes on the road, and statistically, he’s average away from Ann Harbor. This is a statement game for the Wolverines. Michigan isn’t just playing a ranked team, going up against a Big Ten opponent, but they are facing an in-state rival, in which recruiting plays a huge role in a game of this magnitude. This will be a tough game, but Michigan State is now moving the football with Sophomore QB Connor Cook. With Cook opening the game up for RB Jeremy Langford, and that tremendous Spartan defense, Michigan will have a tough time going on the road and winning this football game. #JYPREDICTION: Michigan State

Wisconsin-Iowa Big Ten

#24 Wisconsin (away) vs. Iowa (home): Nice overtime win last week with Jake Rudock leading the Hawkeyes over Northwestern. This weekend Wisconsin invades Kinnick Stadium with dominance on their mind. Iowa has a competitive team and they are capable of moving the football against the Badgers, and talented enough on defense to make plays and get stops. Wisconsin has one of the best offensive players in the country at running back in Melvin Gordon III. Gordon and RB James White have been difficult to stop for any team all season long. Wisconsin QB Joel Stave has played better each game, and as Stave continues his improvement and growth at the quarterback position, it makes the Badgers more of a threat for the Big Ten Championship. Iowa will have their hands full this weekend. #JYPREDICTION: Wisconsin
