1. Gold Cup Victory– Yesterday, the United States won the Gold Cup, defeating Panama 1-0 at Soldier Field. I’m not going to try and make this a bigger deal then it is, because it isn’t a huge deal. Winning the Gold Cup is like the USA basketball team winning the Pan-Am Games. Or your favorite college football team winning the Cotton Bowl. It’s a nice accomplishment, but not a grand accomplishment in the big picture of things.

Having said that, it is certainly a positive sign from a USA team that has now won 11 games in a row. World Cup qualfying recommences in September, and if all goes as planned, all eyes will be on Brazil  in 2014. But let’s not get ahead of ourselves. Check out the game deciding goal scored by Brek Shea, who was substituted into the game less then one minute earier. Congratulations to the USA National Team!

2. High School Catch- In Major League Baseball, diving catches or over-the-shouldar grabs are a daily occurrence. After all, they are the best baseball players on the planet. However, when you see one of these kinds of plays in high school, it’s something to take notice of. Cue Terrance Turner-Blair, a high school baseball in Maryland. Turner-Blair won the Big26 MVP award, and when you look at this play that me made, it is no wonder. Check out Turner-Blair’s amazing athleticism to rob an opponent of a sure double.
