Play of the Day: Nate Washington’s Sleight Of Hand

Detroit+Lions+v+Tennessee+Titans+Nate=Washington

Well this will be one of the most impressive plays you will see all year. Nate Washington is one of those talents at wide reciever that broke out with his original team (Pittsburgh), pursued big money with another team (Tennessee), and has now been largely forgotten. However, he emerged back into talks this year as many people picked the Titans as a potential sleeper in the AFC.  Washington put up decent numbers in the first two games, but broke out against Detroit in a shootout over the weekend. On Washington’s biggest play, he elevated to try to catch a poorly thrown ball from Jake Locker.  With the Lions defender having his back to the ball, Washington reached around the defender, and did his best AND 1 street ball impersonation, leaving his defender literally dazed and confused. Check it out.

I mean, that’s just incredible. Washington pulls a rabbit out of his hat, and gives the Titans the win, on their way to a huge 44-41 OT win over Detroit. The Titans have started out with a brutal schedule, and this could be a turn around they need.  If Washington can continue to play like this, they have a good chance.

What did you think of the play? Is it a play of the year candidate? Let us know in the comments!
