I was rifling through the clips on MLB.com this morning trying to find a play of the day, and I thought I had it with a leaping catch from Michale Bourn of the Braves. But leaping catches over the wall are a dime a dozen these days, and I wanted something more unique. Enter Starlin Castro of the Chicago Cubs. His team was playing the in state rival White Sox, when he had to field a pop up in no mans land. He chased it down, and almost made a great over the shoulder catch. It got loose, but no matter for Starlin, who snagged it out of the air for an impressive catch. Check it out.
You have to admire the hand eye coordination for Starlin there. To be able to pick the ball out of the air while you are losing your balance and running away from the play: that’s impressive. Gotta give credit where credit so due there.
What did you think of the play? Let us know in the comments!
