Last night, the upstart Oklahoma City Thunder put the final blow on the veteran Los Angeles Lakers, ending their season while extending their own. Russell Westbrook led his team with 28 points, including one of the most ridiculous and 1’s you will see.  The Thunder had tied the game, after Nick Collison converted on a huge dunk put back, when Westbrook stole a lazy pass from Ramon Sessions. Westbrook had an open lane, before being wrapped up by Sessions. Somehow, he was able to get a shot up despite having his arms restrained, and even more unlikely, it went in! This shot fired up the crowd, and ignited his Thunder to a 106-90 win.

Despite being outplayed in a majority of the games, the Thunder won the series by a comfortable 4-1 margin. Their reward for this is a date with the San Antonio Spurs, who have now won 18 games in a row, including two playoff sweeps. All season long, I liked the Thunder to come out of the West. However, given how much the Thunder struggled with the Lakers, and how easily the Spur have dominated, I have changed my mind. I like the Spurs in 6, though I will certainly be pulling for the much more exciting team.
