Carmelo Anthony is a name that somehow gets lost in the shuffle when you talk about the best players in the NBA. You always first think of the established stars like Lebron or Bryant, while young guys like Rose and Durant have overtaken Anthony in many people’s eyes. However, Anthony showed yesterday that he is still here, and he is one of the best scorers in the game. It was a huge game for the Knicks. A potential first round preview with the Chiacgo Bulls, a team that was getting its star Derrick Rose back from injury. And of course, it was in the most famous basketball arena in the world, Madison Square Garden. Anthony scored a season high 43 points, including two incredibly clutch 3-pointers that Lebron James could only dream of making. Here’s the first to send it to overtime.
How casual can he make it look? Just strolls up the court, then catches Taj Gibson off guard by pulling up from 28 feet out, and absolutely burying it. As great a shot as it was, it only sent the game to overtime. Had the Knicks lost the game, the shot would have likely been forgotten by Monday night. However, Anthony would have none of that. He was a man on a mission, and when his team was down by two at the end of OT, he made sure that his mission was accomplished.
What did you guys think of the play? And where does Anthony rank for you on the list of top NBA players?
